The company’s safety management policy covers safety and environmental protection issues. L’Express des îles is audited annually as part of the ISM certification (International Safety Management Code)

In addition, every ship of the company has:

  • a pollution prevention plan (SOPEP Plan)
  • an international sewage pollution prevention certificate
  • an international oil pollution prevention certificate
  • international air pollution prevention certificates for each motor (IAPP)
  • a garbage record book

These compulsory licenses can be withdrawn after inspection of the vessel by the competent authorities if the vessel fails to meet required standards.

The engines that power our new ships are subject to Tier 2 regulations (anti-pollution norms). An electronic system manages gas emissions from the engines to ensure that these are below the authorized maximum.
