Transporting pets is allowed between the French islands dependent on European legislation. However, the transport of pets to and from Dominica and Saint Lucia is subject to prior approval by the local authorities.

Pets allowed in the cabin

  • All minors must be in possession of a valid form of ID(*) (**): passport or national identity card, according to. Approved to travel in the cabin:
  • cats and dogs under 6 kg (bag or carrying case included)
  • Service dogs, regardless of their weight.
In order to be permitted on board, your pet must be at least 8 weeks old and have all the required vaccinations.

Cabin transport rules

  • Your pet must travel in a suitable travel container meeting very specific requirements.
  • it must be closed, sufficiently ventilated, and large enough for the animal to be able to stand up and turn around.
  • Under no circumstances may your pet leave its container during the journey.
Note: to ensure the safety and comfort of your pet during the trip, we recommend you speak to your vet about using certain products or medications to prevent sea sickness.

Requirements

  • As of 3 July 2011, all dogs and cats travelling within the EU zone must be identified by a microchip. They must also be vaccinated against rabies and hold a European passport. Issued and completed by an authorized vet, this passport serves to identify your pet and to certify that they are properly vaccinated.
  • For journeys outside the EU, you will need to inquire about the regulations enforced in the countries of origin and destination (required vaccinations, quarantine, etc.).

Pets in the hold

  • This is mandatory for cats and dogs weighing over 6 kg (maximum 35 kg). In order to be permitted to travel, your pet must be at least 8 weeks old and have all the required vaccinations.
    The crew will be informed of the presence of your pet in the hold and will take the necessary measures to ensure your pet has a comfortable journey.
    Note: to ensure the safety and comfort of your pet during the trip, we recommend you speak to your vet about using certain products or medications to prevent sea sickness.
  • Your pet will be required to travel in a suitable travel container meeting very specific requirements: size, materials used, approved type water trough, etc.
    Only containers made from rigid plastic or fibreglass and EU/IATA approved are accepted.
  • Other animals are not allowed on board.
  • The paperwork is the same for pets travelling in the cabin or in the hold.
